Welcome!
My name is Kathy Lovely and I am excited to start another year at PHES. I am looking forward to an awesome fifth grade year! As some of you know, I have taught second grade, fourth grade and fifth grade here at PHES.
For those of you who I haven't had the pleasure of knowing, I am originally from New Jersey and moved here with my family when I was in elementary school. I grew up in southern Arizona and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from University of Arizona in Elementary Education and a Master's degree from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership. I have been in education for over 24 years and started my education career in Sierra Vista Public Schools and Tombstone Unified School District. I relocated to the Phoenix area with my husband, son and daughter in 2002. During my career I have taught 7/8th grade English/Math, 6th grade, 5th grade, 4th grade, 2nd grade as well as working with gifted students in all grade levels. I have also had the opportunity to work in all grades K-8 during my time as a reading coach and instructional coach to teachers in the Glendale and Dysart Districts.
In my spare time, I love to travel to with my family and go camping. I have had many adventures including many trips to California, Nevada and Arkansas for my daughter's competitions for Taekwondo. I love to use my other hobby of photography wherever we go.
My daughter and I also share a love for animals, which includes dogs, cats, a bunny, a bearded dragon, dove, and pet rats (yes, rats!-they make wonderful pets!). I have a lot of experience with rescue animals including bottle feeding kittens, including 3 new kittens born July 5th.
This past summer, I have also become a Nonnie with the birth of my first grandson. He is cute and cuddly and I can't wait to start the new chapter of fun a grandchild can bring!
I can't wait to get to know all my students this year to learn about all the things they love to do! My goals are to make learning interactive and meaningful to all students to create life long learning! I hope everyone is ready to have a spectacular year full of adventure!
